A concept album to end all concepts, Murder Of The Universe is the new collection by head-bending psychedelicists King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Murder Of The Universe is a face-melting musical assault concerned with the downfall of man, the death of the planet....the murder of the whole goddamn universe.
A disorientating experience, the album hinges on three distinct chapters that rise from larval beds, and whose lyrics should be carved in stone, squeezed from moss, discovered in ancient runes. And all the while a passing cast of characters imbue the tale with both human and non-human emotions.

Blending the styles of progressive rock, metal, electronica, and spokenword, King Gizzard weaves a post-apocalyptic dystopian future of destruction and technologically-stained bleakness into a three part story, paved with harsh rifts and chilling narration. If you want to be surprised, grab a CD for yourself!

IkeJune 30, 2017There's been nothing like this album in all of the annals of prog rock, Krautrock, garage rock, or any of KGATLW's catalog of influences. Hugely narratively driven, this is the heaviest album the band has put out yet. I was especially impressed with Ambrose Kenny-Smith's work on keyboards in addition to his stellar harmonica playing, as always. My favorite part was Chapter 3, Han-Tyumi and the Murder of the Universe.
