Now I've been a fan of Danny's going back to the Bad Livers day and just because he plays a banjo and has a southern accent doesn't mean his interests aren't broad and his curiosity deep. On any Danny Barnes release you'll enjoy a variety of influences without slavish mimicry and see that the banjo isn't limited to country, bluegrass any more than any other instrument. There are a wide variety of tunes and guests on this disc from Bill Frisell to John Paul Jones. I enjoyed myself listening to Mr. Barnes interactions and explorations and I think you might, too. He's a mean banjo picker (along with guitar when he's feeling froggy). Recommended!
