I liked this album the first time I listened to it; which i expected. But what I wasn't ready for was the fact that I went from just liking it the first time I listened to it, to loving it by the fifth. Great album front to back. Like it more every time I listen to it.

Another fantastic album from Danny Barnes. I'm a fan of all his work, but Man On Fire stands with his best solo work w/ ATO (Pizza Box, Rocket) and might be best of the bunch. Let's put it this way. My 16-year-old who hates most my music because it's not Lil Uzi Vert said on the way to school the other day about It's Over: "yah, this song is badass." Another comment was from a friend who doesn't know much about Barnes says regarding the lead single Awful Strange: THIS SONG SLAMS!! LISTEN TO THAT BASS!! Well there is definitely some good bass playin' on here. John Paul Freakin' Jones plays on it so what do you expect? But there's also Matt Chamberlain (best studio drummer on planet) who fits every square inch absolutely perfectly. We have Bill Frisell on guitars and Dave Matthews singing on a couple songs too (and Dave also produced the record.) That's quite the all-star band but what is so clear is: everyone is serving the songs. This isn't showoff time. It is art!! This is limited edition beautiful green vinyl and it's the first Barnes-on-vinyl since 1994's Horses In The Mines by Bad Livers. Jump on it folks!!
