Rhett Miller’s 10th solo album was recorded in the shadow of a potentially damaging vocal surgery. During his recovery, Miller recorded a batch of songs—including co-writes with Evan Felker (Turnpike Troubadours), Caitlin Rose, Nicole Atkins, and former New Yorker editor Ben Greenman—and handed them off to producer and Old 97’s bandmate Murry Hammond to complete. Filled with reflections on mortality and love in all its forms, the album features some of Miller’s most unguarded and compelling material to date.
